FAQs

  • Our restaurant partners are cooking up signature dishes with a story, and you can expect ingredients to be locally sourced, fresh, and quality. We’ve done our darndest to curate a progressive meal that tickles different taste buds and opens the senses. Expect to encounter pork, beef, veggies, a touch of craft beer, a little sangria, and a glass of wine.

What if I’m a vegetarian? Kosher? Allergic to gluten?

Right now, we do not have programmed vegetarian alternatives or options that accommodate dietary restrictions other than shellfish allergies. Be patient with us and we’ll soon be able to meet many necessary dietary needs, though. The Back of House is a brand to program in downtown Modesto, and we have BIG plans for lots of different types of tours to be added one day. For now, you’ll want to adventure with us and be ready to encounter pork, beef, vegetables, spicy, sweet, and more.

  • You know you have a good host when they tell you to come hungry-- and that’s just what we’re telling you! Your regular breakfast should hold you over until the tour begins. Our experience is that everyone is stuffed by the end of the progressive meal, and we highly doubt you’ll be hungry. That said, if you have an inkling that you’ll be craving a nightcap at a good happy hour spot, be sure to ask our tour guide for the scoop on what’s best. You will be ending the tour in the heart of the downtown culinary scene downtown, after all.

  • Our tours are definitely geared more toward adults. However, well-behaved children may join us with a paid ticket at full price. The tour is 3 hours long and some children have a limited attention span; therefore the tour may not be appropriate for them. It also includes “grown-up food” and alcohol as part of the paid ticket. Parents, who know their children best, should assess their situation individually. Since there is a lot of standing, walking and listening, please consider this when deciding whether the tour is appropriate for your child. We are unable to accommodate children who are not included in your paid reservation as all participants are required to have a ticket. All participants must purchase a full-priced ticket in advance, even if they do not wish to participate in food tastings.
